Topographic Surveys

A true picture of your site — levels, features and drainage — before anyone designs on it.

Overview

A topographic survey maps what exists on a site: the shape of the ground, the natural and built features, and the levels that decide where water goes. It is the base drawing that architects, engineers and contractors design against.

When you need one. Before designing a house, a commercial building or a subdivision; before drainage, retaining-wall or road works; when a bank or planning authority asks for existing-conditions drawings; and whenever a site's slope is part of the problem.

What we capture. Spot levels and contours, buildings and structures, walls, fences, roads and drives, drains, watercourses, trees of note, utility poles and visible services, and the site's relationship to the road and to its neighbours. Surveys are tied to a stated datum so they can be reused across the life of the project.

What you receive. A scaled topographic plan in the format your designer works in — PDF and CAD — with contours at the interval the job calls for, plus digital points where a design team needs them.

How we work

1

Brief and extent

We agree the area to be surveyed, the contour interval and the datum, and which features your designer needs shown.

2

Control established

Survey control is set on site with GNSS so every measurement, now and later, shares one reference.

3

Detail survey

Levels and features are measured across the site, including the edges where drainage and access decisions are made.

4

Drawing issued

The plan is drafted, checked and issued in PDF and CAD, ready for design.
