Construction Stakeout

Your design set out on the ground — positions, lines and levels the contractor can build to.

Overview

Construction stakeout, or setting out, transfers a design from the drawings to the site. We mark the positions, alignments and levels that the contractor builds to, so that the foundations, walls, columns, roads and services end up where the design put them — and inside the boundary.

When you need it. At the start of construction and at each stage that depends on position: excavation, foundations, column lines, floor levels, drainage runs, kerbs and road alignments. Also before any structure is built close to a boundary or a setback line.

How we work with your contractor. We set out from the approved drawings and the boundary survey, and we leave clear marks, offsets and level references the crew can work from. Where a stage is critical, we return to check the work before the next stage covers it.

What you receive. Marks on site, a setting-out record showing what was set and to what tolerance, and as-built checks where requested, so that any question about position can be answered from the record rather than from memory.

How we work

1

Drawings and control

We take the approved design drawings and tie them to the site's boundary and survey control.

2

Setting out

Building corners, gridlines, offsets and levels are marked on the ground in the order the contractor needs them.

3

Stage checks

At the stages that matter, we confirm what has been built against the design before it is covered.

4

Setting-out record

You and your contractor receive a record of what was set, when, and to what tolerance.
